The Alphonso mango, locally known as “Hapus Amba” or “Alphaanso Aam,” from the “Drupe” family is often given the title “The King of Mangoes.” Alphonso is a type of mango which is seasonally available from mid-April to the end of June. They have a rich, creamy, tender texture and delicate, non-fibrous, juicy pulp.
How to identify true Hapus?
The skin of naturally ripened mangoes shows gradients in yellows and green with a tinge of red across the top while the flesh saffron in colour. They should look and feel soft if they are ripened naturally. One mango kept in your room will fill the room with its aroma.
Alternatively, you can also identify the mango based on its aroma as a singular mango is enough to fill a room with its irresistible smell.
